Zelenka and Ensemble Inégal
Zelenka festival Prague - Dresden
Zelenka Festival Prague – Dresden was founded by conductor and organist Adam Viktora and Ensemble Inégal in 2014.
This has created a new platform on the European music scene, from which impulses for the dissemination of Zelenka’s music around the world have been created. After two editions in Prague in 2014 and 2015, the festival was upgraded in 2016 to the international project Zelenka Festival Prague – Dresden.
Jan Dismas Zelenka is one of the most important Baroque composers alongside J. S. Bach, G. F. Handel and A. Vivaldi. His creative legacy is a European phenomenon in the musical field today, and the revived works of this genius on concert stages and CD recordings are literally rewriting the history of Baroque music. By the end of the 20th century, it was no longer envisaged that other major works of European Baroque music would be discovered decades later.
zelenka conference prague
Between 2015 and 2021, the Zelenka Festival Prague – Dresden included a one-day conference with the most important representatives of contemporary Zelenka research presenting unpublished research findings on the life and work of Jan Dismas Zelenka. The interest in Zelenka’s music is at odds with the acute lack of information generated by ongoing musicological research. Zelenka Conference Prague has set itself the goal of creating a platform for the publication and presentation of the results of contemporary Zelenka scholars. At the same time, it was to become an impulse and inspiration for the launch of the still strongly stagnating Zelenka research in the Czech Republic.
A total of 16 lectures were published in the Clavibus Unitis series and four lectures were published in Musicology Australia , all available free online.
